MENZOLIT’S SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT CONTINUES, WITH SOLAR PANELS INSTALLED AT OUR SITE IN BURNLEY (UK) AND RECOGNITION OF PROGRESS WITH THE AWARD OF GOLD STATUS ON THE ECOVADIS CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY RATING

Our project to become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable organisation is moving forward, with the completion of the installation of the photovoltaic system on the roof of our production facility in the UK, alongside the announcement that Menzolit Limited has also been awarded Gold status on the EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility rating, in recognition of achievements made in the area of sustainability.

The EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating methodology is designed to measure the quality of a company’s CSR management system – the assessment focuses on four themes: Environment, Ethics, Labour & Human Rights and Sustainable Procurement.

The newly installed solar panel system is composed of 932 panels covering a total surface area of approximately 1864m2, this array of panels is expected to generate around 600MWh of renewable energy per year.  It is anticipated that approximately 25% of the total energy consumption for the Burnley operation will be generated from these solar panels.  Already, since the installation and initial connection in early May, the use of solar energy has reduced CO2 emissions to atmosphere by approximately 5 tonnes.

We would like to express our thanks to all internal colleagues and external partners for their contribution in the success of both of these projects.
